That was fun!
Okay, I went to a book signing in Arkansas. Dragons In Our Midst/Oracles of Fire/Echoes from the Edge. Bryan Davis. Oh, it was amazing!
It was an hour's drive, and we lost Air 1 pretty quickly so I'm glad I brought my iPod ^^
The signing was at the Skia bookstore. I'd never heard of it before, but as soon as we got there.... wow..... that place is incredible. More later.
I walked in the door with my Eye of the Oracle and Enoch's Ghost and was instantly face-to-face with Mr. Davis himself. Haha. I got all nervous at first and just handed him my books xD
We talked for awhile, I got like, three free posters and four bookmarks. I also got his new book, Beyond the Reflection's Edge.
He called his daughter on his cell phone and I talked to her for a minute or two, it was awkward, I'm not good with phones. Haha.
I'm sure I was the first person there. The second person to show up drove two hours to get there. He got a picture with her, and then insisted on getting a picture with me. Or maybe my mom suggested it behind my back, she does that
I didn't even have a camera with me, so he used his really nice camera and I guess he'll email it to me.
Also, he told me about a contest thing that I'm going to have to look into.
After awhile I just drifted off and explored the bookstore. He was getting lots more people wanting autographs and stuff, and.... well, their CD selection is incredible. Seriously, this is the coolest bookstore I've ever seen in my life. I didn't want to leave. I wish I'd had money. Seriously, they had Five Iron Frenzy, Mae, they had Sullivan for goodness' sake! Watashi Wa... old old old The Rocket Summer... They were selling FF5's album for $8, plus they had the old one there too! Psh, Target has nothing on them, I've never seen this stuff in the stores before! They had t-shirts, shoes, buttons, posters and they sold cereal and smoothies at the counter. Italian sodas, oh yeah. They lent out iPods to listen to new music. It was unbelievable. I've never actually felt the extreme urge to work somewhere before, but... yeah... I would do anything to work there. But it's like, an hour away. I'd have to move to Arkansas. It was like a dream, though.
So yeah, after about an hour of browsing excitedly through the store, I casually walked by Mr. Davis's table again and found out that he was planning on doing a presentation after another group was done meeting there.
So after the other group split up he gathered the remaining DIOM fans (me and another guy and his son... haha) and we scooted off to a corner. He talked about his journey and what got him into writing and how God has used him. It was.... incredible. Seriously.
His son played cello for us the whole time, too. It was awesome.
Then it was lunch time so we had to go. I'm so glad I got to go, though! It was amazing! Ahh!
Oh, by the way. If you live near Bentonville Arkansas, and you like The Wedding, or Flatfoot 56, or John Waller, and you can afford a completely free concert.... I suggest you go. Skia bookstore. June 7th. Oh yes!
Kay, that's all for now.
